Is being an Engineer your cherished dream? Does the letters IIT excite you? With more than 7000 Engineering colleges across the country, India is one of the largest producers of Engineers in the world. Getting an Engineering admission is relatively easy, but getting into a choice institution like the premier IITs / NIITs & getting a choice stream is difficult, though not impossible. It just needs motivation, dedication, focus and hard work.

An Overview of the Engineering Entrances:

Admission to Engineering Colleges used to be held by Govt as well as Private Institutions based on common (AIEEE) / separate Entrances and / or  Grade 12 marks. Now, the Government has tasked National Testing Agency (NTA) to conduct a common All India Entrance Examination - JEE (Main) - held twice an year (Jan and April every year) for admission to NITs / IIITs  and other Engineering Colleges and CFTIs whose admissions are based on the JEE score. The candidates who have passed class 12th / equivalent examination (with Maths, Physics and Chemisty) in 2018, 2019 or appearing in 2020 irrespective of their age can appear in JEE (Main) examination – 2020. You have to register for JEE (Main) 2020 online on the NTA  website HERE. Registration starts from 3 September 2019 for January exams.

IITs: For admission to IITs and a few specified institutes, the admissions are based on JEE (Advanced) exam scores. Approximately, the top 20% students who have qualified the JEE (Main) are eligible to write the JEE (Advanced) exams. You cannot attempt JEE (Advanced) more than twice.

JEE (Main) Entrance Examination:

The Exam conducted by NTA consists of 75 Questions (60 Multiple Choice Questions and 15 questions will have answer to be filled as numerical value) based on the Grade XI and XII NCERT syllabus with equal weightage in Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry. Paper II includes Mathematics and Aptitude Test as well. Make sure you go an extra mile to ensure success.
