An Overview of the Medical Entrance Examinations in India

As per the latest regulations in force from 2018, National Testing Agency (NTA) will be conducting National Eligibility Cum Entrance Test (UG) [NEET(UG)] for admission to MBBS / BDS Courses in India in Medical / Dental Colleges run with the approval of Medical Council of India / Dental Council of India including 7 AIIMS and JIPMER Puducherry. NTA will conduct of the entrance examination, declare results and the All India Ranks remain the basic foundation for conduct of counselling for 15% All India Quota Seats. It will also supply the result to States / other Counselling Authorities for Medical admissions. NEET 2020 was scheduled to be conducted on 3 May 2020, but was twice postponed to the current date of 13th September 2020.

Anyone of age 17 to 25 yrs (30 yrs in case of SC / ST/ OBC category students) who has passed his / her 12th Grade with Physics, Chemistry, Biology / Bio-technology & English individually with a minimum aggregate of 50% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Biology (40% for SC / ST / OBC) can apply. For AIIMS, it is 60% and 50% respectively. A maximum of 3 attempts are allowed for every candidate. Candidates can apply for NEET (UG), 2017 or AIIMS (UG) entrance only Online.
